Don’t Get Fooled

“I saw a man kiss her” – إني رأيت رجلا يقبلها

Al-Mughirah said:

“I have never been fooled, except once by a young man.

I intended to marry a woman, so I consulted him.

He said: “I don’t think you should marry her.”

“Why not?”, I asked.

“I saw a man kiss her”, he replied.

Later I heard that he married her!!

I asked him: “Didn’t you say that a man kissed her?!!!”

He said: “Yes, I saw her father kiss her, when she was small.”

[Ibn Kathir narrated this in “Al-Bidayah wa Nihayah”, 8/51].

ما غلبني أحد إلا فتى مرة، أردت أن أتزوج امرأة فاستشرته فيها.

فقال: أيها الأمير! لا أرى لك أن تتزوجها.

فقلت له: لِمَ؟

فقال: إني رأيت رجلا يقبلها.

ثم بلغني عنه أنه تزوجها.

فقلت له: ألم تزعم أنك رأيت رجلا يقبلها؟

فقال: نعم! رأيت أباها يقبلها وهي صغيرة.
