True Intelligence

This picture reminds me of what Ibn Taymiyyah said about the philosophers:
وأوتوا ذكاء ولم يؤتوا زكاء
“They have been given intelligence (dhakā’),
but they have been deprived of purity (zakā’).”

These people are not stupid in the worldly sense. They are not ignorant about the world, but they are ignorant about the hereafter.

Allah says in the Qur’an, Chapter of Romans (Europeans):

يَعْلَمُونَ ظَاهِرًا مِّنَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ عَنِ الْآخِرَةِ هُمْ غَافِلُونَ
“They do KNOW the outer aspect of the worldly life, but they are heedless of the Hereafter.” (Qur’an 30:7).

True wisdom is knowing your Creator.

Abu Jahl’s actual name Amr Ibn Hisham. He was known as Abu al-Hakam (أبو الحكم‎ – father of wisdom). People used to come to him for advise. When he rejected Tawhid, the Prophet named him Abū Jahl (أبو جهل – father of ignorance).

So, an old illiterate grandma who looks up to the skies above and recognises the Creator is more wise than a PHD who doesn’t.
