Description Of God

According to Tafasir, the polytheists said to the Prophet:

صفه لنا أمن ذهب هو ؟ أم من فضة ؟ أم من حديد ؟ أم من خشب ؟ وهل يأكل ويشرب ؟ انسب لنا ربك

“Is your Lord made of gold, silver, iron, or wood?”
“Does your Lord eat and drink?”
“Describe your Lord to us!”
“Tell us about your Lord’s lineage!”

So, God revealed:
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
SAY [to them]: “He is the One God,
God, the Self-sufficient One,
He does not give birth, nor was He born,
No one is comparable to Him.”

[Qur’an 112:1-4].
