Feeling Safe Of God’s Punishment

Ibn al-Jawzi said:

ومن تلبيس إبليس على عوام الناس : أنهم يفعلون المعاصي ، فإذا أنكرت عليهم قالوا : الرب كريم ، والعفو واسع . وهذا هو الذي يهلك العوام .

“And one of the methods by which the devil misguides the general public is the following:
When they commit sins, and they are reprimanded, they say: “God is generous and His Mercy is all-encompassing”.
This lax approach has ruined them.”
