Paradise & Hell Are Close To Us

The Prophet said:

الْجَنَّةُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَى أَحَدِكُمْ مِنْ شِرَاكِ نَعْلِهِ، وَالنَّارُ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ
“Paradise is nearer to you than the strap of your shoe, and so is the Hell Fire.”

Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani explained:

معنى الحديث أن تحصيل الجنة سهل بتصحيح القصد وفعل الطاعة والنار كذلك بموافقة الهوى وفعل المعصية

“This Hadith means: attaining Paradise is easy [within reach], by correcting the intentions and performing acts of obedience. And the same applies to Hellfire, which one earns by obeying their desires and performing sinful acts.”
