God Is Watching

A man met a Bedouin woman and wanted to act immorally with her.

She refused, saying: “Have you got no honour? Have you got no religion?!”

He said to her [jokingly]: “Nobody can see us here, except the stars above us.”

She said: “And where is the One Who fixated those stars above us?”

[Al-Bayhaqi in “Shu’b al-Imaan”, 844].

لَقِيَ رَجُلٌ أَعْرَابِيَّةً فَأَرَادَهَا عَلَى نَفْسِهَا ،
فَأَبَتْ وَقَالَتْ : أَيْ ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ ! أَمَا لَكَ زَاجِرٌ مَنْ كَرَمٍ ؟ أَمَا لَكَ نَاهٍ مِنْ دِينٍ ؟
قَالَ : قُلْتُ : وَاللَّهِ لا يَرَانَا إِلا الْكَوَاكِبُ ،
قَالَتْ : هَا بِأَبِي أَنْتَ ، وَأَيْنَ مُكَوْكِبُهَا ؟
