Parents Who Have Passed Away

Seeking forgiveness for parents that have passed away –

The Prophet said:

“A man will be raised in ranks in Paradise and he will say: ‘Where did this come from?’
And it will be said: ‘By your son seeking forgiveness for you.’

[“Ibn Majah”, 3660 –

Some people think that the door of serving our parents, grandparents, relatives etc. – completely shuts down – as soon as they pass away!
No – this is a mistaken understanding!
It does not end there …
Even after our family pass away, we can benefit them by asking God to forgive them.
This is agreed upon by all scholars.
If your relatives have passed away, don’t forget to supplicate for them, every time you remember them.
If you are a parent yourself – teach this Du’a to your children:

“And say: ‘My Lord! Show them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small.” [Qur’an 17:24].

So they will supplicate for you in your life and after your death.
