Minor Sins

The problem with saying: ‘it’s a minor sin’, is that we belittle the sin.

The Abbasid era poet, Abdallah ibn al-Mu’tazz says in a poem:

خل الذنوب صغيرها وكبيرها ذاك التقى

لا تحقرن صغيرةً إن الجبال من الحصى

‘𝗔𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘀, 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 – 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆.

𝗗𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘀;

𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀.’
