Paris Attack

Someone asked about the recent Paris attack on the blasphemers of Islam.

I said the scholars CONDEMN these type of attacks – we also CONDEMN it.

He said:

“Ibn Taymiyah wrote a book [700 years ago] in which he says that those who insult the Prophet deserve capital punishment, its called:

“الصارم المسلول على شاتم الرسول”

I asked: have you read it?

He said that he is not fluent in Arabic, but he had read snippets of it translated somewhere.

That is the problem with these youth.

They are driven by ZEAL and lack KNOWLEDGE & WISDOM – to rein-in their EMOTIONS.

They rely on second-hand translations and only see parts of the puzzle, but they never see the full picture!

Back to Ibn Taymiyah – in that very same book, he says “Sarim al-Maslool”, (221):

فمن كان من المؤمنين بأرض هو فيها مستضعف، أو في وقت هو فيه مستضعف؛ فليعمل بآية الصبر والصفح والعفو عمن يؤذي الله ورسوله من الذين أوتوا الكتاب والمشركين

“So whoever from the believers is weak in the earth or is weak in the time in which he is living in, must apply those verses of the Qur’aan which mention patience and forgiveness against those who are seeking to harm Allaah and His Messenger from those who were given the scriptures prior (Christians & Jews) and also from the polytheists.”

End quote.

SO EVEN IBN TAYMIYAH WOULD NOT SUPPORT THIS!!

The scholars differentiate between the HUKM and the application of the HUKM.

But some ‘Awaam think that every HUKM applies in every situation.

This is a huge mistake!

They take a Fatwa from 1,000 years ago BAGHDAD or SAMARQAND and apply it here in PARIS, LONDON and AMSTERDAM!

But Fatawa change with Makaan and Zamaan.

الفتوى تتغير بتغير الزمان والمكان والعرف والحال

Many of these Fatawa are from before the time of the VIKINGS!!

The Muslims living in the West are a vulnerable minority.

These type of attacks increase tensions and only strengthen the far right.

When the Mosques, elderly and Hijabis are attacked – will these youth be around to protect them from harm?!

No.

They are completely oblivious to the ‘مقاصد الشريعة’ and the ‘مصالح’ and ‘مفاسد’ of their actions.

They jump to conclusions without referring matters to their LOCAL SCHOLARS – who know their local situation (فقه الواقع).

As Allah says:

وَلَوْ رَدُّوهُ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ وَإِلَىٰ أُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِمَهُ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَنبِطُونَهُ مِنْهُمْ

“But had they referred it to the Messenger and to the believers who were in charge (i.e. scholars), they would have understood it and made sense of it.” [Qur’an 4:64].

But they DON’T ask their local scholars.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This is NOT in defence of those CARTOONS but in DEFENCE of the masaalih al-muslimeen in the West.

Its in defence of the defenceless Hijabi that will be beaten and the elderly father who will be stabbed for going to Masjid.

يا ليت قومي يعلمون!!

We strongly condemn the insults at our Prophet and also the insults at Prophet Jesus, Moses and other Prophets. We should seek all peaceful means to counter these insults.

Finally:

The Prophet said:

مَثَلُ الْقَائِمِ عَلَى حُدُودِ اللَّهِ وَالْوَاقِعِ فِيهَا كَمَثَلِ قَوْمٍ اسْتَهَمُوا عَلَى سَفِينَةٍ، فَأَصَابَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَعْلاَهَا وَبَعْضُهُمْ أَسْفَلَهَا، فَكَانَ الَّذِينَ فِي أَسْفَلِهَا إِذَا اسْتَقَوْا مِنَ الْمَاءِ مَرُّوا عَلَى مَنْ فَوْقَهُمْ فَقَالُوا لَوْ أَنَّا خَرَقْنَا فِي نَصِيبِنَا خَرْقًا، وَلَمْ نُؤْذِ مَنْ فَوْقَنَا‏.‏ فَإِنْ يَتْرُكُوهُمْ وَمَا أَرَادُوا هَلَكُوا جَمِيعًا، وَإِنْ أَخَذُوا عَلَى أَيْدِيهِمْ نَجَوْا وَنَجَوْا جَمِيعًا
“The example of the person abiding by God’s order and restrictions in comparison to those who violate them is like the example of those persons who drew lots for their seats in a boat. Some of them got seats in the upper part, and the others in the lower. When the people at the lower deck of the ship needed water, they had to go up to bring water (and that troubled the others), so they said, ‘Let us make a hole in our share of the ship (and get water) saving those who are above us from troubling them.” So, if the people in the upper part left the others do what they had suggested, all the people of the ship would be destroyed, but if they prevented them, both parties would be safe.”

[“Sahih Bukhari”, 2493].

So we need to stop these youth who are making a hole in the ship – before we all sink with them.
