This Is Not Jihad

The Prophet said in an authentic Hadith:

أنَّ من ضيَّقَ منزِلاً، أو قطعَ طريقاً، أو آذى مؤمناً، فلا جِهادَ لَه

“The one who restricts access to properties,
or blocks the roads,
or hurts a believer – there is no Jihad for him.”

[“Sahih al-Jami”, 6378].

The Prophet said in another authentic narration:

مَنْ أَشَارَ عَلَى أَخِيهِ بِحَدِيدَةٍ لَعَنَتْهُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ

“Whoever points a piece of iron at his brother, the Angels curse him.”

[“Tirmidhi”, 2162 – authentic].

Ibn al-Arabi al-Maliki comments on this Hadith, as quoted in “Fath al-Bari”, (13/25):

إذا استحق الذى يشير بالحديدة اللعن فكيف الذى يصيب بها

“If someone is cursed for just ‘pointing’ a weapon, what about the one who strikes his brother with it??!”

End quote.

People who go around, blowing up everything, destroying properties, killing innocent people – regardless of their religion – there is no Jihad for them.

They’d burn down an entire house, just to kill a flea inside the house.

These are criminal acts and major sins in the sight of God.

They are mojrimeen, not mojahideen.
