When Genghis Khan conquered Bukhara in 1220, some people in that region joined him against their own people.

They killed, burned and looted…

After the war was won, Genghis ordered that those who helped him should also be executed.

When his generals questioned his logic, Genghis said:

خانوا إخوانهم من اجلنا ، أيخلصون لنا ونحن غرباء
“They betrayed their own brothers… how can they be loyal to strangers like us?”
