Don’t Be Like A Fly

All humans are bound to make mistakes – كلُّ بني آدم خَطَّاءٌ

It is important to correct the mistakes of public speakers – but this has to be done with justice.

There are some people out there, who wait for the scholars to slip.

They will then ignore all the good of that speaker and magnify their fault.

This is a sickness.

Ibn Taymiyyah compared these type of people with flies, who are only attracted by the foul and dirty:

الجاهل بمنزلة الذباب الذي لا يقع إلا على العقير ولا يقع على الصحيح

“The ignorant one is like the fly who does not land except on wounds.

He (avoids and) does not land on what is good.”

(“Minhaaj as-Sunnah”, 6/150).
