Think Big

The Prophet said:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ مَعَالِيَ الأُمُورِ وَأَشرَافَهَا ، وَيَكْرَهُ سَفْسَافَهَا
“God loves lofty and honourable of matters and hates petty, trivial matters.”

[“Silsilah as-Sahihah”, 1890].

Occupy your mind with big projects and long term goals – otherwise it will occupy itself with petty stuff.

It is said:

فالعقل كالحقل إن لم تتعهده بالنباتات الجيدة ، نمت فيه الحشائش الصغيرة والضارة.
“The mind is like a field – if you don’t fill it with beautiful plants, it will fill itself with harmful weed.”

When you look at people who indulge in petty talk and make issues out of non-issues – you will notice that they usually have no ambitions in life.
