Entering Homes
Regarding the Ayah:
وَلَيْسَ ٱلْبِرُّ بِأَن تَأْتُوا۟ ٱلْبُيُوتَ مِن ظُهُورِهَا
‘𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀.’ [2:189].
Al-Qadhy Abu Bakr Ibn al-Arabi, the Andalusian Maliki mufassir, said that according to some scholars:
أنها النساء : أمرنا بإتيانهن من القبل لا من الدبر
‘Houses are a metaphor for women in this verse, so it is telling men to enter them from the front entrances and not the back entrances, during intercourse.’
[‘Ahkam al-Qur’an’, 1/143].
