Scholars Act On Hadith

Imam Shafi’ie – رحمه الله – once narrated a Hadith of the Prophet.

Al-Humaydi asked: “Is this also your position?”

Imam Shafi’iee said: “Have you seen me come out of a Church? Or do you see a belt around my waist (like the fire worshippers)? Why would you assume that my position wouldn’t be the same as what I heard from the Prophet of God?”

وقال الحميدي: روى الشافعي يوما حديثا، فقلت: أتأخذ به ؟
فقال: رأيتني خرجت من كنيسة، أو علي زنار، حتى إذا سمعت عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حديثا لا أقول به
