The Job Of A Jurist

The job of a jurist … العلماء ورثة الأنبياء

Some people expect a religious scholar to build SPACE SHUTTLES, find a CURE FOR CANCER, take us to the MOON and build settlements on MARS etc.

That’s not their job.

You wouldn’t expect, a medical doctor to construct a house, a car mechanic to invent the cure for cancer, etc.

As it is said :
كما قيل:لكل فن رجال
Each profession has its specialists…

The job of a jurist is to teach us religion & spirituality. They are not space-scientists. It is not their job to land us on the moon.

We should not scapegoat religious scholars for our failure at these worldly sciences. It is OUR collective fault that we lack expertise in these worldly sciences.

The Prophet said:

وَإِنَّ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَرَثَةُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ وَإِنَّ الأَنْبِيَاءَ لَمْ يُوَرِّثُوا دِينَارًا وَلاَ دِرْهَمًا وَرَّثُوا الْعِلْمَ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ أَخَذَ بِحَظٍّ وَافِرٍ ‏
“The scholars are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets do not leave behind Dinar or Dirham (wealth). The only legacy of the scholars is (religious) knowledge, so whoever takes from it, then he has indeed taken the most able share.”
