Cracked Pot

A cracked pot may contain useful water.
An imperfect person may bring us beneficial knowledge.

The Prophet said:
ورب حامل فقه ليس بفقيه
“And perhaps the one who carries the Fiqh is not a Faqih.”
[Sahih Ibn Hibban, no. 67].

And perhaps an imperfect individual carries beneficial knowledge.
The Persian poet says :
سرخوشي از نشه مي قسمت پيمانه نيست
Meaning, the cup that carries intoxicants is not intoxicated … it’s just a carrier.
A scholar is still human, not infallible.
Just because a scholar made a mistake, it does not mean we abandon him altogether.
Unless the mistakes are in the fundamentals of religion, then we have to be wary.
