Benefits of Trade – التجارة

Sry Ibn Yahya was a scholar from the time of the Salaf. He started a trade merchandise in the sea (i.e. fishing).

It was said to him:

وقال رجل للسرى بن يحيى، وكان يتاجر فى البحر: تركب البحر فى طلب الدنيا؟ قال: أحب أن أستغنى عن ضربك من الناس
“You sail the sea, in search of Dunya (worldly gains)?”
He said: “I’d like to become self-sufficient [non-reliant] on people like you.”
