True Manhood

The true meaning of ‘manhood’ – الرجوله

It is said:
كل رجل ذكر، وليس كل ذكر رجل
ما أكثر الذكور لكن الرجال منهم قليل ‎
فكلمة الطيور تجمع بين الصقور والدجاج
‘Every man is a male,
but not every male is a man.
Males are plenty, men are few.
Just like the word ‘bird’ encompasses both chickens and hawks.’

If you think manhood is just the beard, goats also have beards.
If you think it’s in your size or physical strength, elephants are bigger and stronger.
If you think it’s the size of your private part or your loud voice, donkeys outdo humans in both.
If you think its your frequency of intercourse, some rats and little birds outperform humans.
If you think it’s being tough on your family, beating up the weak and being a criminal – wild animals outdo humans in barbarity.
It’s none of that….
Manhood has a lot to do with good character:
Manliness is being a masculine gentleman, well-mannered, faithful, caring, courageous, patient, intelligent, generous, respectful, loyal, responsible, etc.
That’s why a negligent ‘ghost-father’, who abandons his wife and children, is not manly by any stretch of the imagination.
Nor a coward, or a stingy person, nor a traitor.
Being a male is easy, but being a man is difficult and it has to be earned…
