Men & Women Discussing Knowledge Together

Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani says:

قال الحافظ ابن حجر في شرحه: (وفي الحديث من الفوائد.. المناظرة في العلم بين الرجال والنساء) (فتح الباري 5-142 ). –

“And from the benefits we can derive from this Hadith … the [permissibility] of discussing knowledge between men and women.”

Men & Women can discuss and debate religious topics with each other if there is a need for it, as long as its FREE from fitnah, flirting, fahshaa (immorality) and munkar (evil).

Seclusion with the opposite gender (خلوة) is forbidden.
