Immorality Always Existed
According to the Qur’an: what the People of Lot (قوم لوط) did was considered a: “فاحِشَةَ” (lewdness) [7:80] and among the: “خَبَائِثَ” (abominations).” [21:74].
In today’s day and age, things like that are “normalised” and taught as part of school curriculums. These things have entered our homes. It is literally “only a click away” from our children. Children are exposed to these things and their morality is shaped by what they see.
Even in ancient times, people struggled with these feelings.
It is narrated:
حكى ان احدهم كان يطء الغلمان فقالت له زوجته عندى ما عند الغلمان فقال نعم ولكن له جار سوء
A woman had a husband who was not interested in her and he used to go to men.
She said to him: “I also have what men have.”
He said: “Yes, but yours has a bad neighbour.”
In another instance, a woman saw two women and said:
يا أخواتي، رأيتن قفلاً يفتح بقفل؟
“O sisters, have you ever seen a lock open another lock?”
These acts are forbidden and sinful – in the sight of God.
What other people do is between them and their Lord.
Our responsibility is to educate ourselves and our children about God’s commandments and to not deviate from the ‘Fitrah’ upon which mankind was created.
