A Cheeky Boy –

Ibn al-Jawzi narrates another hilarious story:

A man sent his son to the market to buy a roasted head of an animal.

He bought it, but he sat at the side of the road and ate its eyes, ears, tongue and brains.

He took the leftovers to his father.

His father said: “Woe to you! WHAT IS THIS??!”

Son: “This is the roasted head, which you asked for.”

Father: “Where are its eyes?!”
Son: “It was blind.”

Father: “Where are its ears?!”
Son: “It was deaf.”

Father: “Where is its tongue?!”
Son: “It was mute.”

Father: “Where is its brain?!”
Son: “It was brainless.”

Father: “Woe to you! Take this back and get a refund!”

[“Akhbar al-Hamqa”, 1/74].
