Hardships

The Poet says:

جَزَى اللهُ الشَّدَائِدَ كُلَّ خَيْرٍ
وَإنْ كانت تُغصّصُنِي بِرِيقِي
وَمَا شُكْرِي لهَا حمْداً وَلَكِن
عرفتُ بها عدوّي من صديقي
“May God reward hardships with all good;
even though they strangled me and made me breathless!
My gratitude towards them is not for any other reason;
except that they enabled me to recognise my friend from my enemy.”

Some scholars said that fake friends are like shadows, they are with you when you’re shining in light, but they disappear when it gets dark…
