Types Of Sufis

Ibn Taymiyah said:

‎وقد صار لفظ الصوفية لفظًا مجملاً
‎يدخل فيه من هو صِدِّيق
‎ومن هو زنديق
‘The word ‘Sufi’ has become a broad term which now accommodates both:
the Siddeeq [truthful],
and Zindeeq [heretic].’

[‘Rad ‘ala Shadhili’, p. 74].

The Sufi who focuses on spiritualism within the realm of Shariah is a Siddeeq and a pious Wali. The ignorant or arrogant Sufi whose madness pushes them outside the fold of Shariah is a Zindeeq heretic.
