Giving Charity

Giving charity with bad intentions …

The Prophet said that one of the first people to be thrown into the Hellfire will protest, saying that he spent a lot of wealth in charitable causes, so he should be forgiven.
It will be said to him:
كَذَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّكَ فَعَلْتَ لِيُقَالَ هُوَ جَوَادٌ
‘𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝘆: ‘𝗵𝗲’𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀.’

Some people give charity to appear rich….

Others do this to feel superior over others, meaning: the person who takes the money from them is indebted to them, so they can boss them around.

Others give money so that people may say: he is generous person! [feeding the ego]

You may as well throw your money in a bottom-less pit.

It’s a total waste.

Purify your intentions so that your charity will be accepted.
