Uthman’s Well

This is a picture of the well of Rumah, which was providing water in the time of the Prophet, but it was paid.

The Prophet wanted to make it freely available to all companions, so he said:
مَنِ ابْتَاعَ بِئْرَ رُومَةَ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ
“Whoever buys the well of Rumah, God will forgive him.”
[“Sunan Nasai”, 3182].

Uthman Ibn Affan was rich, so he bought it and made its water available to all free of charge.

It still hasn’t dried up and still cultivates land and provides water to people.
