Born For Another Era

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim quotes a beautiful saying:

لا تكرهوا أولادكم على آثاركم فإنهم مخلوقون لزمان غير زمانكم
‘Don’t force your traditions upon your children, because they were created for a different era than you.’
