Ramadan

Ibn al-Jawzi Hanbali wrote:

الشهور الإثني عشر كمثل أولاد يعقوب عليه وعليهم السلام
وشهر رمضان بين الشهور كيوسف بين إخوته
فكما أن يوسف أحب الأولاد إلى يعقوب
كذلك رمضان أحب الشهور إلى علام الغيوب
“The 12 months of the year are like the 12 children of Ya’qoob (Jacob).
The month of Ramadan among the other months is like Yusuf (Joseph) among his brothers.
Just as Yusuf [Joseph] is the most beloved child to YA’QOOB (Jacob),
so is Ramadan the month most loved month to the ‘ALLAAM AL-GHUYOOB (Knower of the Unseen, God).”
