The Prophet tries to Save his Nation – صحيح مسلم

The Prophet once said to the people:

مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُكُمْ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ أَوْقَدَ نَارًا فَجَعَلَ الْجَنَادِبُ وَالْفَرَاشُ يَقَعْنَ فِيهَا وَهُوَ يَذُبُّهُنَّ عَنْهَا وَأَنَا آخِذٌ بِحُجَزِكُمْ عَنِ النَّارِ وَأَنْتُمْ تَفَلَّتُونَ مِنْ يَدِي

“My example and your example is that of a man who lit a fire.

Insects and moths (that are attracted to light) began to fall in it!

The man did his best to keep them out.

Likewise, I am trying to hold you back from the (Hell) Fire, but you are slipping from my hand.”

Insects are attracted to light – so they rush towards a fire – not realising that they will get burned in it.

Similarly, humans are attracted to sins – not realising that it leads to their destruction.

The Prophet tried to save us by giving us guidelines to follow.

If we follow his guidelines, we will be saved – إن شاء الله.
