Hypocrites

The scholars say:

أن الله تعالى لما ذكر المنافقين قال: “فاحذرهم”..
ولما ذكر الكافرين قال: “فلا تخافوهم”..

‘When God mentioned the hypocrites in the Qur’an,
He said: ‘𝗕𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.’ [63:4].
But when God mentioned the disbelievers,
He said: ‘𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.’ [3:175].

A ship can sail in fierce waters and storms, but if the water gets inside the ship, the ship sinks.

Similarly, the hypocrites are internal enemies – they are far more destructive and dangerous. The damage they cause is much greater in magnitude. External enemies cannot harm you if you don’t have internal enemies.
