Fearing People

Fearing what people will say – الخوف من كلام الناس

Don’t live in this mental-prison, fearing people’s opinions … whatever you do, people will always talk.

A poet said:
صَمَتُ فقالوا كليلُ اللسان ** نَطقتُ فقالوا كثير الكلام
“I was silent, they said: “he is mute!”
I spoke, they said: “he talks too much!”

If you buy a nice car, they say: “he’s showing off.”
If you buy a simple car, they say: “he’s poor.”

People get into huge debts by spending thousands on weddings, to impress people, but people still talk…

Break free from the nonsensical cultural and tribal chains of tradition…

If you gather the courage to not play these games, people will respect you for taking a stand.

Deep down they also know that most of these traditions are wrong … they just go with the flow and don’t have the courage to swim-against-the-tide.

Don’t try to please people…train yourself and your family to not go down this rabbit-hole. It’s a dead-end, it is impossible to please everyone, [proverb: رضى الناس غاية لا تدرك] – so don’t even try!

The Persians say:
جهانگیر توان شد اما دهان گیر نه
“It is possible to become JAHAANGIR (world-conqueror),
but impossible to become DAHAANGIR (silencing people).”

Your life begins the moment you break free from this mental prison.
