Arrogance

A Persian poet says:

افتادگی آموز اگر طالب فیضیهرگز نخورد آب زمینی که بلند است

‘𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲,

𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀…’

Meaning: water flows downstream and benefits the lowlands, bringing them to life. Water does not flow up, to benefit the highlands. Similarly, if a person is arrogant and thinks he is above everyone else, he will miss out on a lot of good. People will not associate with such people.
