Advise To Influencers

To all the mini-influencers on social media:

‎قليل الكلام
‎كثير الاحترام
‘Little speech [kalaam]
Lots of respect [ihtiraam].’

Don’t overdo it…sometimes less is more …

I want you all to do well, so here’s the golden formula:

– 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆: If you post 20 times a day, FB algorithms will notice that there is not much interaction with each individual post – so they assume you don’t post valuable content and your posts will go down in the results. Don’t post for the sake of posting. Only post quality content: 2-3 times a day max.

– 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Don’t recycle content. Post something people don’t know already. Don’t make general statements that everyone knows already. Be original. Be a voice, not an echo.

– 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲: Provide valuable & interesting content – don’t bore people. The reality is: people don’t care about YOU personally. Make it about THEM. They are with YOU because you provide THEM valuable content.

– 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Don’t be like a fragile delicate flower. Grow a tough skin. Don’t take things personally. Don’t censor everything you don’t like or disagree with. Allow people to share their views – unless it’s disrespectful comments. The best way to remove misconceptions is by allowing them to be said and discussed, not by censorship. That will push these ideas underground and keep them alive. It will also discourage engagement with your posts.

– 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Purify your intentions for the sake of God – because the ultimate aim is to pass on beneficial knowledge. The end-goal is not fame and reach. That’s the means to an end, so it is still important to build an audience and expand your reach. Otherwise you may as well talk to a wall. Don’t lose sight of the ultimate aim.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻:

If you follow these guidelines, you will reach everybody even if you’re a nobody.

If you don’t follow these guidelines you will reach nobody, even if you’re somebody.

These social networks are powerful tools which should be utilised to spread good. Local Imams who used to reach 100-200 people max in their village are now reaching millions of people on the other side of the world. They are here to stay and if the good people shun these platforms, the void will be filled by bad people.

We need more good influencers on social media who can reach people, so they can spread good and tackle the bad. You cannot do that without building an audience.
