Saving Money

This is good financial advice:

ادخر لوقت للشدة
(احفظ قرشك الأبیض لیومك الأسود)
‘Keep something for a rainy day…’

If you lose your job today – you should have enough emergency savings that will keep you going for the next 3-6 months comfortably.

That will be your safety-cushion, so you don’t make a hard-fall. It keeps you going until you find another job.

Don’t live paycheck-to-paycheck…

Always separate your savings. A house cannot function if the finances aren’t sorted. Create a chart and list all your income & expenses… that will show you where your money is being spent on.

Put your savings in a separate pot… drop by drop, it becomes an ocean.

Don’t leave your savings in an easily accessible place, because you will be tempted to use it. If its hard to get, you will be forced to live within your means.

Let people think what they want. It is better to carry a $5 wallet with $100 inside it, than to carry a $100 wallet with $5 inside it. You have a future to work for, not a community to impress.

Always have a 5-10 year, long term plan. Set out a realistic strategy and stick to it – otherwise you will be in the same situation even 10 years from now.

It is said:
اعملْ لِدُنْياكَ كأنَّكَ تَعيشُ أبَدًا
واعملْ لآخِرَتِكَ كأنَّكَ تَموتُ غَدًا
“Work for your world,
as if you are going to live forever;
Work for your hereafter,
as if you are dead tomorrow.”
