Marriage

Another man also had a bad experience with marriage:

قيل لرجل: مات عدوُّك!
قال: وددتُ لو أنّكم قلتم: تزوّج!
It was said to him: “Your enemy died!”
The man said: “I wish you had said: your enemy got married.”

And the wise elders say about marriage:
أوله حلاوة
وآخره عداوة
“It begins sweet (HALAAWAH),
it ends in enmity (‘ADAAWAH).”

Not trying to put people off – it’s just humour …
