Hadith About Father’s Anger

God’s pleasure in DISOBEYING your parents –

Our obedience to God and His messenger are unconditional.
But our obedience to the creation are conditional.

We should obey our parents, as long as they order us to do good.
If they order us to do evil – we should disobey.

Al-Manaawi al-Shafi’ee said in “Fayd al-Qadir”, (4/33):

“The pleasure of the Lord is in the pleasure of one’s father and the anger of the Lord is in the anger of one’s father” [Hadith].

That’s because Allaah has enjoined that the father be obeyed and honoured, so whoever obeys the command of Allaah has honoured Allaah and glorified him, thus He will be pleased with him, and whoever goes against His command, He will by angry with him.

This applies so long as the father is not drifting away from the path of piety, otherwise pleasing the Lord is done by going against the father’s orders.”
