Noah’s Flood Was Local, Not Global

Was Noah’s flood LOCAL or GLOBAL? – نوح عليه السلام

The Atheists say the Qur’an is wrong because it talks about a global flood and there is no archaeological evidence for a global flood.

The truth is, there is also no clear-cut evidence in the Qur’an and Sunnah – that Noah’s flood was global.

Ibn ‘Attiyah al-Andalusi wrote 900 years ago in his Tafsir:

وقوله تعالى: ثم أغرقنا الآخرين
يقتضي أنه أغرق قوم نوح وأمته ومكذبيه
وليس في ذلك نص على أن الغرق عم جميع أهل الأرض

“And Allah says: “Then we drowned the others.” (37:82),

This refers to the people of Noah who rejected his message.

It does not have to imply that all the other people of the world were also drowned.”
